In this article on the Backwards Extended -Verse Hierarchy, I will compare it to the hierarchy laid out by Kardashev (the Kardashev Scale). So, let's begin:

Kardashev Scale

The number next to the object is the type of a civilisation that controls all of the resources of said object. 

  • Multiverse - Type 5.0

A civilisation controlling the resources of an entire univerese is a Type 4.0 Universal Civilisation. They can perform truly immense galactic engineering projects, such as the Megadisk and the Megasphere (interstellar-sized variants of the Alderson Disk and the Dyson Sphere).

  • Universe - Type 4.0
  • Supercluster Complex - Type 3.6
  • Supercluster - Type 3.4
  • Cluster - Type 3.1

A civilisation controlling the resources of an entire galaxy is a Type 3.0 Galactic Civilisation. They can perform large stellar and interstellar projects, such as the construction of a Megaring or the disassembly and transport of an entire small galaxy.

  • Galaxy - Type 3.0
  • Spiral Arm - Type 2.9
  • Stellar Belt - Type 2.7
  • Stellar Bubble - Type 2.6

A civilisation controlling the resources of a solar system is a Type 2.0 Stellar Civilisation. These civilisations can perform large projects on the level of planets and solar systems, such as completely blowing up a planet or constructing a small Dyson Sphere.

  • Solar System - Type 2.0

A civilisation controlling the resources of an entire planet is a Type 1.0 Planetary Civilisation. Our civilisation is an example of one of these (technically about type 0.7 going by power output, but eh). Powerful Type 1 civilisations can perform extensive asteroid mining and some terraforming; weak ones, like ours, may only have limited space operations and be essentially confined to a single world.

  • Planet - Type 1.0
  • Continent - Type 0.7
  • State - Type 0.5
  • City - Type 0.4
  • Neighboorhood - Type 0.1

Below this level, objects can not really be considered "civilisations". Nonetheless, we can continue. A large village roughly corresponds to a Type 0.0 Civilisation.

  • House - Type -0.2
  • Person - Type -0.4
  • Organ System - Type -0.5
  • Organ - Type -0.7
  • Tissue - Type -0.8

A Type -1.6 Civilisation corresponds to approximately the scale of a single amoeba swimming. At this point, it's really becoming a stretch to call them "civilisations", but let's truck on regardless.

  • Cell - Type -1.6
  • Organelle - Type -1.9

A Type -2.0 civilisation would be able to do such amazing technological feats as reproducing a single virus. This is the smallest type of civilisation in existance, barring exotic civilisations based around individual neutrinoes.

  • Biomolecular Complex - Type -2.1
  • Macromolecule - Type -2.3
  • Molecule - Type -2.6
  • Atom - Type -2.7
  • Nucleon - Type -2.8
  • Quark - Type -2.9

And that concludes this comparison of my backwards extended -verse hierarchy compared to the Kardashev scale. How do you like it?
